In a troubling and desperate attempt to cling to power, incumbent Council Member Kamillah Hanks has resorted to voter suppression tactics at PS 57—misleading my poll watchers and voters by falsely claiming that the Democratic Party would not accept the will of the people if I am nominated in today’s primary election.
This kind of fear-mongering undermines the democratic process and disrespects the voices of the voters of the 49th District. Every voter has the right to cast their ballot free from intimidation or misinformation.
I call on all election observers and democratic institutions to stand firmly against these actions. Our community deserves leadership that uplifts truth, fairness, and democracy—not one that spreads fear to suppress votes.
